How milk rate is calculated
SNF kg = Litres × SNF % ÷ 100
Amount = (Fat kg × ₹/kg Fat) + (SNF kg × ₹/kg SNF)
Rate / litre = Amount ÷ Litres
Worked example: 10 litres at 4.0% Fat and 8.5% SNF, with ₹450 per kg Fat and ₹250 per kg SNF. Fat = 0.400 kg (₹180.00), SNF = 0.850 kg (₹212.50). Total ₹392.50, which is ₹39.25 per litre.

Most Indian dairies use the two-axis kg method: Fat kg = Litres × Fat% ÷ 100, SNF kg = Litres × SNF% ÷ 100, and Amount = (Fat kg × rate per kg fat) + (SNF kg × rate per kg SNF). Divide by litres for the rate per litre.
A widely used formula is SNF% = (CLR ÷ 4) + (0.25 × Fat%) + 0.44, where CLR is the corrected lactometer reading. The constant can vary by region and standard, so confirm the version your union uses.
Each dairy sets its own rate per kg of Fat and SNF based on its selling price, and some use FAT-only pricing while others use two-axis. Always use your own dairy's current rate chart.
